The main uses of flat steel are as follows. The preheating method can be carried out with flame burner, electronic heating pad, or heating furnace. In order to determine the preheating effect of the steel plate, the required temperature should be tested at the heating point.

Increasing the yield rate can not only reduce the loss of metal, but it is also vital to the economic benefits of the steel enterprise. The influencing factors of the yield of medium and heavy plates are various, for example, the variety structure, negative deviation rolling level, plate shape control level, cutting loss, rolling waste and burning loss, etc.

Hyundai Steel Co. has no plans to cut production further despite weak steel demand due to the coronavirus pandemic, the company's president said. Earlier this year, South Korea's second largest steelmaker reduced its S960QL welding annual production of hot rolled coils from 1 million tons previously to 700 thousand tons per year for EAFs. A turnaround is expected after the third quarter of this year.
