A36 is American Standard ASTM material, SS400 is Japanese Standard JIS g3101 steel material for general structure, Q235 is Chinese standard GB700 material. The limitation of the content of the Mn element differs depending on the thickness of the A36 steel plate, and the A36 steel plate of 20 mm or less does not contain Mn. The material S690QL, Q235 steel plate has requirements for the contents of C, Si, Mn, S, P and other elements. But SS400 steel plate only requires S and P to be less than 0.050, and no other element requirements.

After tempering, it has good comprehensive mechanical properties, good low temperature impact toughness and low notch sensitivity. The hardenability of steel material S690QL is good. It can be hardened to Ф28 ～ 60mm during water quenching and Ф15～40mm during oil quenching. When the hardness is HB174～229, the relative cutting workability is 60%. The steel is suitable for making medium-sized plastic molds.
