ASTM A633 standard covers four grades A, C, D, and E normalized high-strength low-alloy structural steel plates for welded, riveted, or bolted construction. S960QL equivalent, A633 Grade A structural steel provides a minimum yield point of 42 ksi [290 MPa] in thicknesses through 4 in. [100 mm], inclusive. Grades C and D provide a minimum yield point of 50 ksi [345 MPa] in thicknesses up to 2.50 in. [65 mm], inclusive and 46.0 ksi [315 MPa] in thicknesses over 2.50 in. to 4.0 in. [65 to 100 mm], inclusive.

How to distinguish between hot rolled and cold rolled process?The hot-rolled steel sheet has low strength, easy production and processing, and good plasticity. The process performance of the hot-rolled steel plate is poor (air oxidation and low smoothness), but the plastic deformation is good. Generally, it is medium and thick plate, S960QL equivalent, high compressive strength, high strength, and high surface smoothness. Cold-rolled steel sheets have high strength and relatively difficult production and processing, but they are not easy to deform and have high compressive strength.
The acicular ferrite pipeline steel can inhibit the formation of polygonal ferrite, promote the acicular ferrite transformation, and improve the precipitation strengthening effect of carbon and niobium nitride by adding molybdenum to reduce the transformation temperature of polygonal ferrite, so as to improve the strength of steel and reduce the ductile brittle transition temperature. The S960QL equivalent, tempered sorbite pipeline steel adopts the heat treatment process of quenching and tempering. The tempered sorbite structure is formed to meet the comprehensive requirements of thick wall, high strength and sufficient toughness.
