Low alloy steel plate was originally developed for large diameter oil and gas pipeline in 1960s. Grades S690Q steel, Q345 (16Mn) and Q390 steel have good comprehensive mechanical properties, good welding performance, cold and hot workability and corrosion resistance. C, D, E grade steel has good low temperature toughness. Mainly used for ships, boilers, pressure vessels, petroleum storage tanks, bridges, power station equipment, lifting and transportation machinery and other higher-load welding structural parts.

S690Q steel, SS400 steel is one of the most commonly used hot rolled general structural steel. SS400 steel’s mechanical properties is yield strength more than 225-235MPa, tensile strength 360-510Mpa and 340-470Mpa. For SS400 steel, the C element content is 0.2% max, the Mn element content is 1.40% max, the P element content is 0.045% max, the S element content is 0.045% max.
