The preparation of S690QL bending galvanized steel before welding is the same as that of ordinary low-carbon steel. It is necessary to carefully handle the groove size and nearby galvanized layer. In order to achieve penetration, the groove size shall be appropriate, generally 60 ~ 65 °, with a certain gap, generally 1.5 ~ 2.5mm; in order to reduce the penetration of zinc into the weld, the galvanized layer in the groove can be removed before welding. In the practical work, the centralized beveling, no blunt edge technology for S690QL bending centralized control, two-layer welding process, reducing the possibility of incomplete penetration.

As to the Chemical composition, the different content is a main on carbon content, while the carbon content of S690QL bending, A283Gr. D is no more than 0.27% and it is higher than Grade C (≤0.24%) ; as to the mechanical property, the differences are tensile strength and yield strength, while the tensile strength of ASTM A283 Gr.D is 415-550MPa (60-80 ksi) and yield strength of ASTM A283 Grade D is 230MPa (33 ksi).
