EN10025-2 S355JR low alloy steel grade is equivalent to GB Q345B in Chinese standard. For the normal thickness, these two steel grades are both owned 345MPa yield strength. Our mill would roll 1.8909 equivalent, S355JR alloy steel plate under as rolled or control rolled when customers' have not requested any heat treatment in their P/O.
Different from 1.8909 equivalent, the alloy wear-resistant layer of alloy plate is mainly chromium alloy, and other alloy components such as manganese, molybdenum, niobium, nickel are also added. The carbides in the metallurgical structure are distributed in a fibrous shape, and the fiber direction is perpendicular to the surface. Carbide microhardness can reach HV1700-2000 and surface hardness can reach HRC58-62. Alloy carbides have strong stability at high temperatures, maintain high hardness, and also have good anti-oxidation properties. They are fully used within 500°C.
Forging method is to use forging hammer, precision forging machine, fast forging machine or hydraulic press to forge ingot into steel, billet or forging blank. Forging is the earliest 1.8909 equivalent processing method. Forging is divided into free forging and model forging. Forging method can obtain the finished steel with better mechanical properties and shapes that are not easy or impossible to obtain 1.8909 equivalent by rolling method.
