Ultrasonic flaw detection emits ultrasonic waves to the S890Q equivalent steel plate under inspection. If there are defects in the steel plate, the ultrasonic waves will reflect, refract or deform waveforms due to the defects. By recording these changes, the type and shape of the defects are analyzed. Due to its high energy and good penetration performance, and the smoothness of the S890Q equivalent steel plate itself, ultrasound is often used to detect defects such as inclusions, shrinkage holes, bubbles, and cracks in the steel plate.

With the increase of temperature, the yield limit of S890Q equivalent will decrease monotonically, but the tensile strength of S890Q equivalent will rise to a high peak value at a certain temperature, and then decrease. This peak temperature is called the blue brittleness temperature of S890Q equivalent. Near the blue brittleness temperature, the S890Q equivalent strength increases and the plasticity decreases. The elongation and section shrinkage of S890Q equivalent increase with the increase of temperature, but there is a low peak at the blue brittleness temperature. The blue brittleness temperature of low carbon steel ranges from 200 ℃ to 250 ℃. The blue brittleness of low alloy steel is not obvious as that of low carbon steel, and the blue brittleness temperature is higher.
